(about 70%) and helium(about 28%)

Two interesting facts I found out are...If you attempted to count the stars in a galaxy at a rate of one every second it would take around 3000 years to count them all!!!!!
Also when Apollo 11's lunar module landed on the moon there was just 20 second of fuel remaining!!
I am loving learning about space - I just think it is so cool!!

Did you know.....
Tides are caused by the pull of the moons gravity on the Earth's oceans?

When Neil Armstrong took "one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind," the footprint he left was a permanent one. As their is no air on the moon his footprint sould last for many millions of years. Eventually tiny hits from small meteroids will cause the footprint to fade.
I wonder if it is still there, wouldn't it be interesting if they landed on the moon and photographed it??

only the side of the moon lit by the sun is bright enough to see. And because we see more of this side each month as the moon orbits the earth, and then less again, the moon seems to change shape. these changes are called moon's phases.

Kadi said...

The moon is 384,400 km from earth and about 25% of earths size..

Kadi said...

The moon orbits the earth once every month, with each orbit taking 27.3 days. It spins round once on its axis every 720 hours

Kadi said...

the moon is the brightist object in the night sky, but it does not give out any light itself. It shines only because its light-coloured surface reflect

Room 15, I am so thrilled to read all of your facts about space.
Keep building our fact file!
I'm impressed! Keep it up!

Kadi said...

only the side of the moon is turned away from us is called its dark side. This is because the moon spins on its axis at exactly the same speed that it orbits the earth.
