Persuasive Writing

We have been learning about persuasive writing.
WALT convince the reader to agree with us.
Success Criteria:
Open with a statement about the issue being addressed.
State your position (agree/disagree) on the statement.
Create an argument – give reasons to support your opinion.
End with a summary.

Here is our first persuasive writing piece.
Written by Room 15 in Term 2 Week 8.

The Big Bad Wolf’s Trial
The wolf in no way should be jailed for his actions because he wasn’t the only one behaving badly.
The wolf’s story needs to be told to the public who will realize that he should be let free.
Firstly the pigs could also be sent to jail because they didn’t let him in. The wolf asked to be let in and gave them a chance to do it. The 3 pigs could of fed him other meats.
Secondly, wolves must eat red meat so they can survive.
Did you realize that wolves eating red meat is all a part of the food chain? It would be cruel to make the wolf starve, he needs the meat for energy and to survive. Come on, have you ever seen a wolf that is a vegetarian?
Thirdly, he shouldn’t be jailed because the cruel pigs punished him already, by making him fall into boiling water. The wolf has learnt his lesson and the next time he is hungry, he will go to the supermarket to buy some meat.
As you have heard the arguments about not jailing the wolf, you have to agree that he is innocent. He has been ignored and hated all his life. Why is it that the wolf is always the bad guy? It’s about time that the public knows the truth. We believe that he should be set free to enjoy life.
